Hybrid table saw for a 120V garage
Both are 10 in saws in the 1-3/4 to 2 HP class. Pick Amazon for the SawStop contractor saw; pick Grizzly for an enclosed cabinet hybrid you can order direct and wire for 120V or 240V.
Complete setup · Expert mixed shop with a car
An expert two-car garage workshop with a car parked is a Grizzly G0771Z 2 HP hybrid saw, a G0555 14 in bandsaw, a G0860 1-1/2 HP cyclone (868 CFM), a G0738 hanging air filter, a T34608 drill press, a 6 ft bench, a 20 gallon quiet compressor and heavy mobile bases: about 45 lines. The Amazon lines total under $10,000; Grizzly machines are priced on grizzly.com.
It fits a 22 x 22 or 24 x 24 ft garage with one bay for the car, all on 120V.
Amazon pick and Grizzly pick for the key machines, before the full list.
Both are 10 in saws in the 1-3/4 to 2 HP class. Pick Amazon for the SawStop contractor saw; pick Grizzly for an enclosed cabinet hybrid you can order direct and wire for 120V or 240V.
Both are 14 in, 1 HP saws that run on 120V. The Grizzly saw is the established cast-iron-table pick; the Amazon pick is dual-voltage and ships to your door.
The Grizzly G0860 is a two-stage cyclone on 120V with a 1 micron canister; the Amazon pick is a bag-style 1 HP machine. The cyclone costs more and keeps the filter clean far longer.
Both are 3-speed ceiling-hung filters in the 300 to 400 CFM class with remotes. The Grizzly unit is owner-rated 4.8 on grizzly.com across 301 reviews.
Prices change often and Grizzly runs sales, so the buttons show current prices.
This is the two-car garage that is a real shop and still a garage: a hybrid saw, a bandsaw, a cyclone, a drill press, a 6 ft bench and wall storage in one bay, a car in the other. It is the expert rung of the mixed shop ladder, after the beginner and intermediate builds; the setups hub compares all three. The product choices are researched from grizzly.com listings, Amazon listings, published specifications and owner reviews, not from our own bench time.
The whole list runs on 120V on its listings, which is the point of the build. The G0771Z lists 15 A at 120V (7.5 A at 240V), the G0860 lists 15 A, the G0555 lists 11 A (5.5 A at 220V) and the T34608 lists 5.3 A. That is four machines in the 5 to 15 A range, each of which wants a circuit to itself, and a bay that has to accept a car. The answer is a subpanel and mobile bases. The layout assumption is the 22 x 22 mixed layout or the 24 x 24 mixed layout, with one bay for the car.
A 22 x 22 two-car garage has a 16 ft door and 484 sq ft; a 24 x 24 has 576. A sedan takes 16 ft by 6.2 ft, parked 12 in from the door, with a 30 in walk-around beside it and 18 in at the ends, which leaves a shop bay of about 10 to 11 ft wide. The stock lane for an 8 ft board past a table saw is machine depth plus 1.5 times the stock, about 14 to 16 ft, and the hybrid saw lists 64 x 40-1/2 in with its fence rails. That lane runs the length of the bay. A 21 ft crew-cab truck fits a 22 ft bay with almost no room to spare, so with a truck in one bay, you cut with the truck out. The park-the-car calculator and the layout calculator show your numbers.
If you do not already own a jobsite saw, start lower. If your garage is a one-car bay, this does not fit; use the intermediate build. If you want 240V power tools, the expert woodshop goes there. If the car must stay in the garage with the shop in use, the lane is the limit: the car comes out on cutting days.

Every row of this build as one list you can keep and price, plus the planning checklist. A few short emails follow, then a couple a month at most.
Unsubscribe anytime. You can also just read the checklist on this site.Yes. In a 22 x 22 or 24 x 24 two-car garage the car parks in one bay and the shop fills the other. The saw sits in the middle of the shop bay with its long axis along the length of the garage, so boards run toward the door. The bandsaw and the drill press go against the side wall, the 6 ft bench against the back wall, and the cyclone parks against the same wall as the bench, with hoses to the saw and bandsaw. The tool chest rolls. The garage door stays free for the car. A sedan on the other side leaves a 30 in walk-around, an 18 in end clearance and a 24 in door apron. The 24 x 24 mixed layout and the 22 x 22 layout draw both.
A 22 x 22 bay is tight for the full list. The honest rule: every machine you can park on a mobile base, you should. The mobile base sizing calculator checks the weight rating, and a base rated at least 1.3 times the machine is the working margin.
Under NEC Table 430.248 a 2 HP single-phase motor draws 24 A at 115V and 12 A at 230V, and a 1-1/2 HP motor draws 20 A at 115V and 10 A at 230V; motor circuits are sized at 125 percent. The listings give lower running currents (15 A for the G0771Z and the G0860), so the nameplate decides, but the practical rule stands: the saw gets a 20 A circuit, the cyclone gets a 20 A circuit, the bandsaw and drill press share a bench circuit, the compressor gets its own, and lights run separately. Table 310.16 lists 12 AWG copper at 20 A at 60 C. That is five circuits in the shop bay, which is a subpanel.
The G0771Z and the G0555 can both be wired for 240V, which halves their current. If you ever add a 240V circuit for the saw, the cyclone and the bandsaw can follow. The workshop amps calculator, the mixed shop subpanel page and the outlet install cost calculator prepare you for the electrician. Have a licensed electrician confirm all of it.
Fine dust settles on paint. The three layers are capture at the machine (the cyclone and its hoses), room filtration (the hanging filter on its timer) and a car cover on cutting days. A cyclone keeps the canister filter clean far longer than a bag collector, so the filter keeps its flow. Empty the drum outdoors. Never leave the cyclone running unattended; fine wood dust is a fire and a health hazard, and a respirator is part of the system. The dust collector sizing for a 22 x 22 gives the computed CFM and duct size.
The matching roundups are the table saw roundup and the dust collector roundup. For generic references see WorkshopCalc.
The Amazon lines on this page total as a budget band rounded up from catalog prices. The Grizzly machines, the saw, bandsaw, cyclone, filter, drill press, bench and chests, are priced on grizzly.com and change weekly. Budget the subpanel separately.
Yes, in a 22 x 22 or 24 x 24 ft garage, with one bay for the car and mobile bases under the machines. Long boards are cut with the car out. The layout calculator shows your own numbers.
No. The G0771Z, G0860, G0555 and T34608 all run on 120V on their listings. The saw and bandsaw can be wired for 240V, which halves their current. A subpanel gives each machine its own circuit.
Capture at the machine with the cyclone, filter the air with the hanging unit and cover the car on cutting days. Empty the drum outdoors and wear a respirator.
A cyclone keeps its filter clean longer and costs more; a bag collector costs less and clogs sooner. The G0860 is a cyclone on 120V; the POWERTEC is a bag unit. Buy one.
