Mobile Base Sizing Calculator
A 324 lb hybrid table saw with a 64 x 41 in footprint plus 30 lb of fence and stock needs a base about 66 x 44 in and a rating of at least 460 lb (weight times 1.3), carried by six locking casters because the saw is longer than 48 in. The WEN 500 lb base in our catalog clears that; the VEVOR 1500 lb base covers cabinet saws.
Base 66 x 44 in, rated 470 lb or more
- Total moving weight
- 354 lb
- Rating to shop for (x1.3)
- 460 lb
- Casters
- 6, each rated at least 153 lb (a third of the load, in case one lifts)
- Wheel diameter
- 3 in minimum on a smooth slab; 4 in or larger for a cracked or sloped slab
- Listed base that clears it
- WEN universal mobile base, 500 lb rated (title)
Mobile bases add height under the machine (the listings do not all say how much): measure your table or infeed height before you buy. Lock all casters before you cut. A base rated for the machine is not rated for tipping it up a ramp.

Both ways to buy: Amazon and direct from Grizzly
Each card shows an Amazon pick and a Grizzly Industrial pick for the same job, with one line on when to choose which.
Open-stand hybrid saw on its own mobile base
The Amazon pick is a 120V jobsite saw on a mobile cart; the Grizzly saw has a built-in mobile base under a cast-iron table. Both roll away so a car can come back in.
14 in bandsaw
Both are 14 in, 1 HP saws that run on 120V. The Grizzly saw is the established cast-iron-table pick; the Amazon pick is dual-voltage and ships to your door.
6 x 48 jointer on a cabinet stand
The long-bed floor jointer flattens longer boards than any benchtop. The Amazon pick is the benchtop alternative that fits a one-car garage.
Prices change often and Grizzly runs sales, so the buttons show current prices.
How the rating is chosen
The base needs to carry the machine plus anything you add (fence rails, extension wings, a stack of stock) with a margin: multiply by 1.3. The casters are rated per wheel, and on an uneven slab only three of four are always carrying the load, so each caster should be rated for a third of the total. Machines longer than about 48 in are better on six casters than four, because a long base flexes. Use locking casters on all four corners and lock them before you cut.
Which bases we carry
The catalog lists two universal bases whose titles state a capacity: the WEN base at 500 lb and a VEVOR base at 1,500 lb. The 1,500 lb unit covers a cabinet saw like the Grizzly G1023RL (508 lb ship weight). A machine over 1,500 lb, such as the G0408 wide-belt, is a freight and machinery-skates job, not a mobile base job. Sizes by machine are in the machine fit sheets.

Frequently asked questions
Can a table saw go on a mobile base?
Yes, and it is how most one-car garage woodshops make room: roll the saw out for a cut and back against the wall afterward. Pick a base rated well above the saw's weight and lock the wheels before cutting.
Do mobile bases make a machine unstable?
A rated base with locked casters is stable for normal work. A base rated near the machine's weight, or unlocked wheels, is not. Keep the margin.
How much height does a mobile base add?
It varies by model and the listings do not all say. Measure your table or outfeed height with the base in place.
