Hybrid table saw for a 120V garage
Both are 10 in saws in the 1-3/4 to 2 HP class. Pick Amazon for the SawStop contractor saw; pick Grizzly for an enclosed cabinet hybrid you can order direct and wire for 120V or 240V.
Layout · One-car, 12 x 20
A woodshop in a 12 x 20 ft garage with no vehicle inside: 7 of 9 machines fit, and Miter station and Shelving do not. 6 circuits on 120V, subpanel around 60 A, and 176 of 240 sq ft is aisle, operator zone and open floor rather than machine.
1. Hybrid table saw (64 x 41 in)2. 14 in bandsaw (25 x 18 in)3. Cyclone dust collector (44 x 28 in)4. Tool bench (Jointer, Planer, Drill press) (96 x 28 in)5. 6 ft workbench (72 x 24 in)6. 20 gallon compressor (28 x 20 in)

Left out: Miter saw station (no floor left once its operator zone is counted); Steel shelving unit (no floor left once its operator zone is counted).

|---|---|---|
| Garage floor | 240 | 100% |

To bring back what was left out: the miter station first fits in the 12x22 one-car layout and the shelving first fits in the 20x20 two-car layout. Footprints are the machine's own size; the zones and aisles are why a garage "feels" smaller than the sum of its machines.
An 8 ft board through the hybrid table saw needs about 15 ft of clear line (the saw's depth plus about 1.5 times the stock). In this plan the clearest run is 12 ft with the vehicle out: short . The usual answers are an outfeed table that folds away, breaking sheets down outside with a track saw, or putting the saw on a mobile base and rolling it to the middle of the bay.
Sawdust is the real tenant here. Run collection at the saw and the planer first, keep the air filter above the work, and keep a fire extinguisher where the finishing happens.
With no vehicle inside, the overhead door still needs its 24 in apron and a clear path out: you give up the car, not the exit.

That is 6 circuits, about 27 A of demand after diversity, and a subpanel in the 60 A range to ask your electrician about. Sizes use NEC Table 430.248 for motor amps and Table 310.16 (60 C column) for wire; have a licensed electrician confirm. The workshop amps calculator lets you change the loads.

One card per machine in the plan. Each shows the Amazon pick and the Grizzly Industrial pick for the same job.
Both are 10 in saws in the 1-3/4 to 2 HP class. Pick Amazon for the SawStop contractor saw; pick Grizzly for an enclosed cabinet hybrid you can order direct and wire for 120V or 240V.
Both are 14 in, 1 HP saws that run on 120V. The Grizzly saw is the established cast-iron-table pick; the Amazon pick is dual-voltage and ships to your door.
The Grizzly G0860 is a two-stage cyclone on 120V with a 1 micron canister; the Amazon pick is a bag-style 1 HP machine. The cyclone costs more and keeps the filter clean far longer.
Choose the Amazon bench to keep spending down; choose the Grizzly bench when you run power tools on it every weekend and want the built-in outlets.
Both are oil-free, quiet-series 20-gallon compressors, so they are tolerable in an attached garage. Pick on the sale, the warranty path and the noise rating you can live with.
Prices change often and Grizzly runs sales, so the buttons show current prices.

Every machine, bench and base in this plan as one list you can keep, with the circuits it needs. Plus a few short emails, then a couple a month at most.
Unsubscribe anytime. You can also just read the checklist on this site.Yes: the plan places a hybrid table saw at 64 x 41 in with its operator zone clear. Ripping long boards still needs the car out or an outfeed that folds away.
The machines in this plan need 6 circuits: 0 at 240V and 6 at 120V, which suggests a subpanel in the 60 A range. Have a licensed electrician confirm the service and the panel.
About 176 of 240 sq ft, 73 percent, is aisle, operator zone and door apron once Hybrid saw, Bandsaw, Cyclone, and Tool bench and the rest are placed.
